The International Exchanges: Latin America (LA) Section offers a selection of high-quality, original and translated peer-reviewed books and journal special issues on writing, writers, teaching with writing, and scholarly writing practices specifically from Latin American scholars' perspectives. This first regional section of the International Exchanges series not only aims to account for the thriving scholarly production of Latin America, but also seeks to build bridges of equal interchange between this scholarship and traditions worldwide.
Freely available on the Web and in low-cost print editions, the LA Section extends the International Exchanges and Clearinghouse goals of accessibility by making scholarship available in the languages of the region: Spanish and Portuguese. Publications include theoretical and empirical studies that tackle regional challenges, expand local traditions, and engage with international discussions about writing. All texts go through a double peer-reviewed process, having been recommended by the Latin American Section Editorial Board and the International Exchanges Senior Editors.
Queries should be directed via electronic mail to Federico Navarro at fnavarro@conicet.gov.ar. Proposals should include 1) a request letter outlining the rationale and audience for the book, its relation to other books in the field, and its regional importance and contribution to the Latin American Section; 2) a statement about whether the book/issue has already been published, a letter explaining the review and publishing process the text has been through, and an acknowledgment that authors own the copyright and that they give WAC Clearinghouse permission to display the work on the Clearinghouse site; 3) a bilingual abstract (original language and English) of the text (around 300 words); 4) a bilingual biodata (original language and English) of the author(s) or editor(s) (around 100 words each); and 5) the full book or journal special issue.

The International Exchanges on the Study of Writing series offers books in free digital editions and low-cost print editions. Books are offered through a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License. Copyright is held by the author(s) or editor(s) of the books. The publisher covers the costs of reviewing, designing, producing, and distributing the books. Any proceeds from sales of print books in the series are used to support the publication of subsequent books. Our goal as a publisher is to make work available to the widest possible audience while maintaining the highest standards in scholarly publishing.
