We are pleased to announce plans for a three-day WAC Summer Institute to be offered for the first time in summer 2019.
The Institute's primary goal will be to assist new and prospective leaders of WAC/WID or similar initiatives in the US and internationally at planning and developing their programs. The Institute will also support experienced directors who face new challenges or wish to expand, update, or revitalize their programs.
The Institute's guiding theme will be building sustainable, high-impact WAC programs. The agenda will include workshops on understanding, planning, developing, and leading programs as well as small group meetings that provide mentoring and networking opportunities. Participants will also have opportunities to consult individually with Institute leaders. The specific issues to be addressed in the workshops and small group meetings will be based on participants' interests and goals for attending as described on the application form. There will also be ample unscheduled time for participants to share their situations and aspirations informally.
The Institute will be limited to 35 participants, who should all expect to leave with clear goals and practical strategies for building or strengthening their own programs.
We are now selecting a location and dates for the inaugural Institute. Please visit this site regularly for additional updates. Further information will be provided at the 2018 IWAC conference and across several listservs.
We welcome your questions and suggestions. Please feel welcome to contact any of us.
